Inspired by Langston Hughes’s poem “I Am Too America,” this quilt responds to how Black identity is labeled and simplified. Contrasting brown fabrics with a solid black block, it challenges reductive terms like “Black” or “African American,” highlighting the diversity of the African diaspora’s textures, regions, and identities.
