Made and inspired by both Martin Wong and housing conditions in NYC, I created this piece through my research on Seneca Village and Black life there prior to displacement. In my research I discovered Shante homes in its homemade and self resourced qualities. Since the displacement of the residents of Seneca Village for the development of Central Park I thought of the current housing situations in NYC and the demographical patterns in displacement and resources in NYC.
