Drawing from traditions of improvisational quilting and its layered histories, I sought to embody my father’s essence through a form that reflects both his discipline and his gentleness. The colors reference the metallic insignia worn on his military beret, earned during his service in the Vietnam War. Through material, color, and abstraction, the work becomes both a portrait and an act of remembrance.
